Hi anyone who is left. Me and mrs W went round at a reserved pace as planned - but even more so giving the sun beating down especially round 14-18 ! Got to say the course was great, the organisation pretty perfect, just a shame we couldn;t get a little sea fret or mist or something Monks - my first mara, got to start line and realised I had picked up Mrs W's Garmin which only had 1 hour charge left having charged mine all night - doh ! Well done all. |

Hi all, I have been an infrequent visitor but dialled in to say all the best to everyone for the day. For myself, targets changed a little, Mrs W had a back injury in Feb that delayed any running till the end of March so we have focussed on getting her up to a reasonable distance to just get round, we will run it together and if it's less than 5 hrs great, if it's less than 6 that's still fine - will just enjoy the day and the scenery (thought prefer some fog than the views). Would wave at everyone as you pass on the switchback but no idea what anyone looks like !! Have a lovely day. |

Ran off road half last week in 1.53, bit slower than last year but felt good on the hills and I think it was more lack of running at speed than any problem with stamina. However worst legs I have had after - struggled to walk for three days ! Need to get legs back in shape and then start to push out some longer runs. Found a gel inc caffiene in the last few miles made a real difference, will definitely pack one for Edi. |

Hi all, no speed here but getting some time on the feet - run / walked Trollers Trot 25 miles with 3000ft climb on Saturday in 6 hours - friend felt his hamstring half way so more walking than running in second half - but still a pleasant spring day out and can't be bad prep to have that long on foot, also was still doing 14mm pace whilst walking much of the time. Must do some more running now.... next checkpoint Baildon Boundary Way mutli-terrain half in April. I too would prefer lucozade (availability at Abingdon helped my PB I think) and will have to come up with a new feed strategy. Not too worried about the finish as will be no-one there to see me.... |
