my last run was last sunday in edinburgh's survival of the fittest. i managed it in 1hr 5mins 53secs which would have been better if it hadn't been for congestion. it wasn't as hard as i expected. the toughest part was the stair climbs, they really took it out of my legs!! the wall at the end was disappointingly EASY!! hope they bring it back next year, i'll defo do it again and try and get in wave 1 or 2.
haha, my girlfriend just had her daughter's sports day and came 3rd in the "mum's race" despite the fact she has ran for a couple of years (and did new york mara last year).
she said she is a distance runner so she was happy with 3rd in a sprint event.
thanks for all the suggestions, i'll nip into borders books tomorrow night and have a look. i have already read paula's.....i didn't think it was too bad, although the fact i had forgotten i'd read it and picked it up to start again may speak volumes.......
Did anyone do it last year? How was it? Are you doing it again? Can you offer any training advice?
Is anyone else doing the Edinburgh one in October?
I run 3 times a week (currently 8.4km mon & wed and 10km + on sat). apart from that and the odd bit of ab/core work i don't do much so my overall strength (and stamina probably) is pretty poor.
after my holiday next week i am going to start a new regime including my 3 runs, body weight exercises and free weight exercises (i don't like the gym!)
any advice on where to start or what areas to work?
