Hi Everyone

ANT

I had a Heavy Cold that Started off in my head and then went to my chest the week before the Brighton Half. On the day of the Half it was so bad I had to pull out of the race. So I signed up for the Eastbourne half a week later. On the Monday I went to the Doctors And Asked for Antibiotics. He said they may not work if its a virus. But if its bacterial it will. So I took them and started to feel a lot better within 2-3 days.

Although I was still coughing up stuff I was able to run the race and ran 1.32.(Was hoping for 1.29) And its quite a hilly at the start.

I would say Rest up as this is your body trying to tell you too. You wont lose any fitness in a few days.

Trouble is with us obseesives is that we ignore our bodies .

All you lot talking about your 18 mile MP runs at 2.11 and 2.06 etc puts me to shame. I only managed 10 miles yesterday with 4 @ MP. As my shin splints flare up every time I do either a Tempo or speed work.

I will be doing all my runs now on grass and at easy pace so no sharpening up.

Hi Matchstick,

Thanks. That sounds like a pretty good plan to me.

I think I might adopt a similar plan to stop me from checking the watch every 10 seconds !

It can stop you from finding your rythm.

what do you think about a 5k this saturday. good idea or bad ?

Hi All, So glad I have found this thread,

There is a local 5k race near me in Hove this Saturday.

If I did it does anyone think it could compromise my FLM time or would it help ?

Any thoughts ??

Ray

Hi Matchstick man,

It seems we train in a similar way HR etc

I have completed 5 x 20 milers including 1x 22 miler which took 3 hrs 09

and a couple of 18 milers

Are you going to run the race by Heart Rate

If you are what is your maximum and what % will you run at ?

My max  is 194 and I do my threshold runs about 169

I think I could run the first 20 at 165 and then do the last 6 at 175 ish

What do you think ?
