My plan to run Sunday evening didn't materialise.  I'd forgotten the MotoGP was on amd as it was coming from the US it didn't finish until about 8 pm and I still had to walk the dog!

So I reverted back to my norm and went out this evening as soon as I finished work.  I really struggled to complete 5K.  One factor I think was the heat, the other a nasty insect bite on my lower leg that I've reacted to.  I have a hard, red lump about 2 inches in diameter on the outside of my leg just below the knee.  It's burning up, itching and throbbing.  I think its also going to blister.

Went out for a run this morning.  Planned a 5 mile route with options to extend it to 6 or 8 depending on how I felt.  Legs felt like lead and my left glute was screaming at me.  Not sure if it was because I hadn't fully recovered from Thursday's interval training or if it was due to the lunges and squats we did at Nordic walking last night.  Whichever, I only did the 5 miles and that was definitely enough

Normally Sunday would be my rest day, but OH is working tomorrow night so I might do my Monday run tomorrow evening and have a rest day on Monday instead!

Hansy, I had that fear when I first went along to my club.  Fortunately, my club is really friendly and they always ensure someone runs with a newbie.  After a few weeks you get to know who is a similar pace to you (or just a bit faster to help you improve!)

Tough session at the club tonight - 6 x 4 min intervals.  The recoveries varied from 2:30 - 3:30 minutes depending on how the leader felt!  Quite pleased that all my efforts were of similar distance (between 0.45 and 0.49 mile) even with a stitch for two of them!!

Hansyhobs, that sounds expensive to me.  I pay £28 per annum and that includes UKA registration.
