Thanks for the info. Its weird because my half mara PB is 7min 29sec miles, so I put that in the smart coach and its come up with long runs at 8min 33secs per mile. I have been doing around that in the hope of running an 8min mile on marathon day. Personally I don't think Ill be much better than 8min 25secs per mile - I could try for 8min 15secs per mile or towards the 8min per mile mark, my worry is simply that because its such a long way and Ive never been that distance in my life - that if I exhaust myself so early I will have nothing left. I really don't know how to approach it and im losing sleep over it now (seriously). My speed sessions have me at 5 miles at 7min 16secs but I cant even hold that down right now, coming in closer to 7min 30secs per mile - guess my body is slowly giving up?!
My distance taper starts tomorrow, Do you think I should stick with the programme seeing as Ive been on it for over 2 months, or should I keep the distance and recovery runs but forgo the speed workouts now?
