| Gr8 race, nice distance for me with my hot burning feet problem that occurs at 4 miles distance usually, but they were ok today as it was not a hot day. Did a PB and knocked 3mins 50 secs off my time last year, according to my Garmin, but only 1 mins 47secs according to race website, but am thrilled to bits, I start my Garmin as I go over the start line and not when I am at the back of the other runners, after all tome that is fair, I was really pleased that I did not stop at all and also did not walk. |

Hi Everyone, Just about getting over my sore throat and awful cough and feeling a lot better. Did the Santa Fun Run today with the girls from the club. It was 2.71 miles and we just ambled along and finished in 57 mins. The hill into Hanley was tough, but once up that it was just steady. Went through the bottom entrance of the Potters Shopping Centre Arcade and then out through the top entrance, shouting Merry Christmas, Ho Ho Ho and all the kiddies loved it, even the security guards replied. All the girls ran up the steps, but as I am an old age pensioner went up the escalator, which turned a few heads and it was good fund. The mince pies and mulled wine after was great and we had a good turn out of 19 which was better than last year's 9. Back to some serious running tomorrow with hubby. |

Empty/Mick C - Sunday is just a potter about (no pun intended) but it was good last year and more of the girls are going to do it this year, should be fun. Tracey G. Did you mean about my lunch on Friday, anyway if you did, Daughter and Hubby, 2 Grandchildren and me and hubby will be at home for lunch, I have had requests for home made fish and chips and then for my sins Daughter and Me and the 2 Grandchildren one age 12 and one age 8 are going to Trentham Gardens for ice skating, I am rubbish, but my Grand daughter has been having lessons and wants to show me what she can do, so that should be quite amusing. Trentham Gardens has just had a big wheel similar to the London Eye put up and it is a very big attraction. |

Hi everyone, Ran Club run last last and the beginners did not turn up so instead of Wk 8 run 20 mins non stop, did 4 miles on a flatish route, so was pleased with that. Still have my sore throat and aches and pains from last Tuesday, but as it is over a week the worst of it has gone, so am just ticking over with my runs at the moment until I feel up to speed again. Did not go with hubby this morning, instead went in car with him and mapped out 2 new routes we intend to do on our Sunday runs and they are nice ones, so the girls will be pleased. A lot of the routes are country and quiet lanes and no traffic to speak of. Club run tomorrow night, and then Sunday is a 10a.m.start instead of 8.30a.m. and we all dress up in Santa outfits and run around Hanley Shopping Centre for a bit of fun and just wave to everyone, it is about 1 hour and then come back to car park and have mince pies and mulled wine non alcoholic tea. |

Tracey G. just read that you have a place on the London Marathon, am thrilled for you, put behind you the cock-up and look forward to it. Our club had 2 free places offered because of affliation and there were 5 girls interested, who had applied to London ,but had got rejection letters, but I said as we got it through affiliation, then only the girls who were affiliated should go in the draw, and every agreed, Luckily 1 girl decided to do the Edinburgh, so that left 4 and 2 were not affiliated, so it left just 2 and we had just 2 places so that was super and everyone was well pleased and satisfied that justice was done. Still have my sore throat, but ran today and did the shorter distance of 6.14 miles, so was dead pleased with that. Have been stretching my calves, all week, and did not have to stop andspray today. A nice mixed route of flat and hilly bits and country lanes and I did not stop, so VAST improvement there, it is building up nicely. Garmin is working ok and am endeavouring to keep just under 65% to 70% of WHR and get a nice steady pace going, and it is coming. Empty, Said some prayers last night at Mass for Liz, my warmest wishes for her steady recovery. |
