Hey there, I have just been diagnosed with this after seeing a physio this week and his advice was as follows: Total rest of impact exercise (no running!) Keep active with cycling, swimming and ideally aqua jogging Need to take strong anti-inflamatories (I have been prescribed Diclofenac) for at least 2 weeks then slowly try to build up again If the pain is not sorted after the above may need a cortisoid injection to take the inflamation down Your problem may not be exactly the same as mine and would recommend a physio to double check nothing else is going on Let me know how you go! |

Hey there, Just wanted to say thanks for those that offered advice. Pavey - you were spot on. Saw a physio who says it is bursitis. Got to spend a few weeks taking strong anti-inflamatories and icing frequently. Cycling is OK, bodypump isn't, no running but wants me to start aqua jogging. Don't know if I will manage that but I will keep as active as I can and hopefully that will sort it out. |

Have sucked it up and booked a physio appointment for tomorrow - at least I should find out what is actually wrong with it and what I can and can't do. Marathon isn't til April but I really need to get to a certain level by January and not looking likely! Pavey - thanks for the info Going away in a few weeks to a rural village in Spain where there is no gym, only glorious hills to run on. I simply must recover by then!!! |

Hi guys, thanks for the help. I will try sticking with the spinning etc for now as it doesnt seem to affect it at all - just running. I did try the treadmill at the weekend and managed 20 minutes without pain but then outside yesterday it was sore after about 5 mins. So may try that for a bit. Hopefully not for long though, I love being outside! All so frustrating. Doesn't bode well for the marathon if I get stuck at this stage.. |
