Hi Simon, been there And done it so know how u feel. Im on holiday in Thailand so fitting in training in ladt few weeks is proving a challenge.
Completed 2 runs in last few days 6 and a 4 both tempo style in 39c heat. Never felt anything like it before. Going out again tomorrow to do another 4 on beech and might look for a 10m on Wednesday. Not going to panic got good runs behind me.
Would lv to do a 3:30 marathon at MK although feel my Aut marathon will b the one for that.
Good luck with long runs and hope u enjoyed watching LM, didnt c it over here but looked up result.
Blistets not good, I have been lucky and only suffered once at a marathon many yrs back. I would suggest looking at the running shoe/socks are they right for u. Rest will b the only cure short term.
Neil, I also hate taper andthetefore I dontreally step back toomuch. I still domy 3/4 runs per week but just all quality workouts and not just easy runs. Even mylast long runwill be about 14/ 16miles. But thats me and not for everyone.
Had a good week with some really strong runs finished off by a steady 17mile run injust over 2hrs 30min. Very happy with that. 1 more run on Monday and then off onholiday with some warm weather training. Could be intresting!!!!
Emjay999 dont b 2 down. U completed 20miles, most people cant get near that. I would suggest may b in 2 weeks go for a 16 m run instead of 20. If u feel good go for 17, if u feel good go for 18 ect. If u get to 20 great if not it doesnt matter. A good quality run will do u good. Also its good to get the bad runs out the way now.
Getting bike out or doing differant types of runs are good. Ive learnt from experience to really mix it up and run how u feel.
I did a 12.5miles easy run. Felt really good and that finished off a very good weeks running for me. On my bike tomorrow all being well. Mix up the training a bit. Hope to go out for about an hour or so. Weather is looking good might actually get some fresh air this weekend!!!
