I ended up giving up with armbands as the sweat and rubbing on my arm cut my skin leaving marks and just found really uncomfortable. I now always buy running shorts with pocket and always check that phone fits in it before I buy however I only use phone for map my run etc and incase of emergency I don't listen to music on it.
Hi I have been following this thread although I only did the 10k .My chip and gun time were the same although I was at the back when starting. I emailed race timing systems and they got back to me today saying there was some problems and they had corrected mine when I looked back on timings my time was reduced by nearly 3 minutes which was where I thought I was and cheered me up no end. Not sure if that means they sorted out everyone who had issues or if you need to e mail them. Well done to everyone on Sunday I live in Sunderland and can run in any weather but I did think it was freezing and windy (again) on Sunday and as I was finishing going into the stadium passing you marathoners going the other way I was thinking I'm glad it's not me! Roll on the great north run...
I also am suffering from tight calves which seem to cramp quite easily as well. I bought a foam roller which I have been using after a run but unsure whether I should use it on non run days ie on cold muscles would this help or make it worse?
Hi I have just bought a foam roller as have really tight calf muscles and have been having pain just below my left calf which has stopped me running as pain comes on about 2 miles into run. So after doing all RICE stuff and having an enforced rest ( which is killing me! ) I have bought roller to try and loosen calves. Can you just do it daily without exercising whilst resting my calves or should I wait till back running and how long would you recommend doing it for each time? Thanks any suggestions welcome
