Fair play all . Perhaps running isnt the best way to lose weight.    Thank you esp David White and PhilPub . As always part of the problem is our (or some peoples') reliance on processed food and also the sheer number of office jobs whre you don't move all day.   I personally think the foods labelled low fat have a lot to answer for especially when you see the sugar content !    Sugar is the no 1 enemy along with inactivity . Just do something !

Of course not, and I agree with you , but there's an annoying article in today i paper (the little independant) entitlled 'Does running make you fat ?' . The tack is that of course you need to run for a long time to burn off say 500 cals and they say that running doesn't suprress appetite ! ( Was it supposed to? )  What they don't say is that any exercise over a period of time will build more muscle even if not much weight is lost at first.  And more muscle means more cells in the body , more cells mean more metabolism , which means burning up more food even at rest.       I would reply myself , but if one of the editors or a clever scientific reader herecan give them a blast in reply so much the better .   We need more people exercising however they do it in teh country not less. It really does running a disservice , I think most people here would agree.

Well done everyone one I had a great race and finished in 3 53, 7 mins outside PB
Kept a good pace til 35 K .. 3 h 6. Last 7.2 k took me 47 mins I loved the conditions but always find I slow down too much to take on enough fluid esp at 35 K . Rest then must do some biking and swimming.

Sorry coulndt make pub. Great race didn't notice it was warm as shade from buildings a lot. Just fell apart last 3 miles got top that point in 3 13. Thought great just need to run 3 miles in 30 mins fore 4 min PB finished in 3 53 but well pleased as felt bad bat 32 k then picked up . You can't wish for better start an finish. One odd thing you couldn't buy a hot drink at start someone missed a trick there, Route a bit boring when running to half way. Otherwise brilliant. I gave iot everyting I felt annd was sick straight after race, took me 3 hours before I could eat or drink . Have grt trip home evry1
