K Pea many thanks for your answer that is very helpful.
I dont really like carrying gels. I see from the clubs website that they are sponsored by High 5 so I am guessing it is going to be high 5 ones.
I did the Thanet 20 in 3hrs so I am hoping to do this one in four hours. Anyone else aiming for around 4hr time. Could do with someone experienced as a pacer. As I am a cyclist really this will be my first full marathon.
Is it just water in bottles at the feed stations. Or will there be anything exciting like Jelly Babies or Gels ?? And what is your long range weather forcast showing. Advise on what to wear would be helpful.
banjobax, Excellent idea. I have aqua shoes. I can carry them in my camelbak. this will hopefully extend the range a bit. Currently I can manage about 3 or 4 miles in sports sandals. Jenn I do take your point. There are plenty of people buying barefoot running shoes. Then overdoing it and ending up injured. Go off road I say !! Max
I find my feet swell up and get really hot and sweaty running in the heat. Running in sports sandals gives you cool freedom. It forces you to have good form off road. Fast foot turnover, you cannot heel land. Finally they are £15 as opposed to £85 for my normal Asics cumulus trainers. What I am hoping is that someone will have sussed distance running in that type of footwear!
