Hi Pat, I've had a look at The Stone Clinic site and it does make for some very interesting reading. I found out today that I will be having the Menaflex procedure in the future. Its been put on hold as I'm curently nursing a seperated shoulder from a recent car accident where we were hit by a drunk driver. As soon as the shoulder is all healed, I'll get a surgery date. I'll update on here when I have more info. |

Hi, I've had a reply from John Hardy (thank-you John) and it contained a link to a really good website about meniscus replacement. If anyone is interested the link is: http://www.menaflex.co.uk/ I'm really plased to see the name of my orthopod on the list of surgeons. I think its deffinately something that will be of massive benefit to me. I'll have to wait until 21st Sept for my next appt. I'll let everyone know how I get on. Thanks xx |

Hi Siance, Thank-you for the link. I'm not too sure how I feel about having a cadaver's meniscus, but if it helps me to become a bit more pain free I'll give it a go. I think my orthopod is going to go down the synthetic route. At present I am unable to do anything that invloves squatting/lunge type movements and bearing too much weight on the right leg. I am hoping to be able to have this procedure within the next couple of months. I go back to see my orthopod on 21/09/09 and will hopefully be given a surgery date. I'll try and get in contact with John Hardy, as I've been advised to do as much research as possible to make sure that I fully understand it and that I feel it is the right procudure for me. If I find out anymore info, I'll post it incase anyone else out there ever needs it. Thank-you |

Hi, I was wondering if anyone out there has had a Meniscus Replacement? I have had 2 previous surgeries on my right lateral meniscus. The first was a repair and the second a partial removal. As I am still experiencing prolems and am in a great deal of pain, my ortheopeadic surgeon has suggested a meniscus replacement. I have tried other alternatives to avoid another surgery, but it looks like his is the only option left other than a full knee replacement. I think that this is a fairly new procedure and was wondering if anyone had had it done or has any advice/info they would like to share. Also if anyone has any suggestions on how to help strengthen my muscles in my right leg as they have become very weak. A little background info on me: Female, 29 years old and I haven't been able to run since August 2008 and am despirate to be able to run again someday. Thanks Maria |

Hi, I underwent a partial meniscectomy on Monday (well my surgeon advised me that he removed most of it, but that there is still some there). I was wondering if anyone else had gone through this and could give me some advice? I am usually quite a keen runner, but haven't done any running since the 2008 FLM. How long can I expect until I can start running again? Also does anyone have any tips/advice on how to loose the weight I have put on whilst not training and any exercises I can do whilst I recover to keep toned and maintain my fitness? I'm female, 28 years old and a vegetarian and it was my right knee I had done. Any advice/tips/help greatfully appreciated Thanks |
