Hi All

Just to let you know that the official website www.birminghamhalfmarathon.com will go live at 11am tomorrow. This is to fit in with the timing of the official media launch for the event.

 Cheers

 Sarah

Hi Everyone

You didn't hear it from me but the official launch for the Birmingham Half Marathon will be on Wednesday 11 June. We'll announce our sponsor, unveil the route and open entries on this date. www.birminghamhalfmarathon.com will be the official website and yes I know it doesn't look like much at the moment but it will look very different on Wednesday.

I know it has been a long time coming but this delay has allowed us to secure a five year sponsorship deal so hopefully you'll understand why we have been holding out until now. We wanted to secure the future of this event so that we can build on it year on year.

If you have any problems entering feel free to e-mail me at /forum/smilies/confused_smiley.gif[/img]arah_guest@birmingham.gov.uk]sarah_guest@birmingham.gov.uk.

 Thanks for your patience.

Thanks for updating everyone Emma

I'll confirm the exact date of the launch for you all as soon as I can by posting  a message here. If there are any of you that still want to enter and haven't already gone elsewhere for a run then I will personally guarantee you a place.

Emma might well be right about the route too but obviously I couldn't possibly comment.....

Don't worry the Birmingham Half Marathon is definitely happening on 26 October 2008.

All the preparations are currently being made to announce the title sponsor, unveil the full route and launch the entry system. We are also planning a media launch which will be happening very soon.

Thanks for your patience and I'll post another message here with more details once the official website is fully operational.

 Many thanks

 Sarah

Not sure if you have heard the news but we have decided to change the date of the Birmingham Half Marathon. The new date is Sunday 26 October. The main reason for the change is Birmingham's bid for the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in 2009, an event which is traditionally staged in October. We therefore want to keep a consistent date for the Birmingham Half Marathon , rather than staging it in September 2008 and then in October 2009 if our bid for the World Half (which would be staged alongside the Birmingham Half) is successful.

Obviously this also means we can now avoid the clash of dates with the Wolverhampton City Marathon too, which we are all pleased about.

 Cheers

 Sarah
