Thanks HH, I had never thought of having a club run as part of a larger club! That would be fine by me, as I'm not bothered about actually starting a whole new club, just trying to get more people to run with in the area! My boyfriend lives in Herne Hill - I had no idea they had a running club actually! Thanks for all the advice, very helpful! |

Hey all, Although I would never claim to be a good runner myself, I'm thinking about trying to set up a running club in Balham. There are so many runners in my area, but the nearest club is the Clapham Chasers, which meet in Battersea. I am sure there are lots of runners much closer by who would be willing to stay more local! I wouldn't expect to be the leader of the pack, but sometimes someone just needs to get the ball rolling, right? I had a quck look online but could only find things relevant for the US. Does anyone have any advice or tips? Would I need to make sure any club was insured straight off the bat? I'd be grateful to hear of any experience any of you have in this! Thanks! PS, If anyone lives in Balham.....lol! |

I have a question...so far the longest run I have done is 10 miles. Next weekend I am doing the Endurance Life half marathon on the cliffs of South Devon (I did it last year and loved it but was much fitter then, hmmm). I am just wondering, if I keep up the long runs and cross train, is there any chance I could still do the marathon, or would I just be massively underprepared? (for the Brighton Mara) My problem has been I have been running alot, but shorter distances. |

I suggest going to the dr to get some medication then! I much prefer winter running. I get really overheated and dizzy when running in the summer. If you go on a weekend late morning it can be beautiful. I dont tend to run outside after work as its too dark and I dont feel safe (so go on a treadmill instead). If you try running before work you might be able to see more of the scenary? Also, running gloves might help. My hands go painfully cold in winter, so I have lots of different running gloves. |
