I know Can you just imagine what the pharmaceutical regulations are now costing the NHS in invoices for biros and sticky notes?!

Dave - there aren't any more drug rep inducements any more. They're not even allowed to give out pens and post it notes now....

Being a moderator is a crap job. Seriously, I've done it. You can't do wrong for doing right, and you'll get loads of forum members on both sides telling you you've done it wrong.

I have rather unbalanced eyes - -3.5 in the right, but only -0.5 in the left. I can see how the "one eye for distance, one eye for reading" thing might work - when reading without my specs on, I am aware that I'm really only "seeing" with my left eye, and my brain just ingnores the blurry image from my right eye.

I have thought about laser eye surgery but again, I'm worried about something going wrong. My colleague had it done for long-sightedness and it went brilliantly, he's never looked back - but I still have reservations. Plus, I've been wearing specs for so long now (since I was 10) that they're almost part of me. And I enjoy having a change of image with a change of frame every so often - it's a bit like having a new hair cut! That said, I do have some daily disposables for sports use - used to have the bog standard ones, which I never really got on with, but then I met a new optician who really listened to what I needed them for, what problems I was having, and found some great astigmatism lenses for me which are MUCH better and give me vision which is almost as good as specs - and certainly good enough for sports.
