Asics use Gel as their cushioning and Nimbus have more Gel in them.
Softer doesn't always mean better though.

I used to work in Sweatshop North Finchley. I'm suprised the Health and Safety people didn't close it down years ago.
Back on the subject of the original post - the term "guidance" will probably mean a shoe with loads of cushioning and little bit of support.
However, if you've run a half marathon with Nike 3.0 with no injury problems, why change too much from something that you know works for you?
