Thanks all for hte glorious welcomes!! Seriously that is nice of you all!!!
Hill Faery, had my share of inuries too last year which I reckon along with my mentors views was down to poor warm up. Is it the gascronieum or something ghastly but the calf muscle you can't see..... well there was I running happily about 40 mnutes into a run in winter, cold and bleak and one heard "snap" and felt like I had been shot in the leg. Stupidly tried to run through it but no way. 6 weeks that took, and then blow me down got back to about half hour some 9 weeks later and same thing other leg!!!
Similary recovery period but changed warm up routine and also stopped doing heel raises as Fizzio The Rapist (physiotherapist... but you knew that!!!) told me I had developed too much muscle mass!!! I loved her! But this week had really sore achilles tendon heading up towards where the problem had last time so I was kind of looking at a potential problem. However ran through the pain and at finish it was not so bad and today is quite OK but I know its there. This running lark is not just about will power is it!!!
Hi Iron, do come along to one of our gigs, November in a local pub, does a Band N Buffet night, been a scream last two times, very er, well intimate!!! If you ever do, come say hello! We also got a name check on Radio One, great name if your a fat git like me!!!
Right, going to read through more of the thread soon and pick up some tips and stuff, presumably all OK to ask questions and get advice and opinions etc???
Apparently you could buy this......??? Note long speedos, smile that says it all, Ipod and Garmin, all tooled up eh?!!
I cam 12th form last and raced against a guy in a red and white top, I caught him a few times, even got ahead once and then fell over..... he was 4 seconds ahed of me at the end but in the 609-70 age group!!!!!!!!!
Submitted to justify said earlier comments about frame and build...... forgot to mention Olympic Gold medal for sweating!
15 - 4 is not as bad as it was a year ago at 17 stone!!!! Mind even when at my fittest at the tender age of 19 whilst at Military Academy was only just under 12 stone and not a gram of fat on me, I am relatively muscular (not strong ones just well, there!!!) and have a very heavy set frame, if I could lose two stone it would be OK by me, I could carry at 13 and not look disproportionate..... its getting there.
On average the running I do now takes 1200 + calories on a session, so I am able to maintain my weight with not putting any on. I guess I have a really efficient metabolism as I rarely feel the cold but get hot easily, or maybe I am broke!
Did slimmers world a while back and weight fell off got to just over 14 but was not exercising at the level I am now.
Last night my hour and a half run gave me just under 8 miles, it was muggy, I was really tired before I started and also had a bit of an injury where I had to decide to run through it or stop. Chose the former and had the heart rate up a bit.
If I can crack the diet, then I am sure things will improve. I also play drums in a rock band so have some upper body stamina and stuff too (www.aawb.co.uk) you can see me there and I do have to maintain a level of fitness for that else end up slowing the stuff down (although I do that anyway!!!).
So if anyone can offer advice on a diet that gives energy for the running and lower calories to burn the fat off...... I am your man!!!
PS I like the humour, hopefully I can join in and contribute soon!!!
