Caroline, your story is such an inspiration to everyone. You are such a lovely person, always encouraging others in their goals yet always quiet in your own acheivements and PB's (unlike me!!) With your determination and dedication in everything you do, I am sure you will acheive your dream of a 3hr marathon. You so deserve to be one of the Runners World 5 You have got my vote xx
Ready your forums gave me some hope. I have been a runner for 6 years and earlier this year had mananged to achieve a few PB's and was really enjoying running with my club at Larkfield. Back in may I thought I had pulled a muscle, I now know I have a bulged L5 disc and an annular tear (confirmed by an MRI scan) I am due to have an epidural injection next week . I have been told it can take anywhere between 6 - 18 months to repair, at the moment the pain is the same 5 months on - and is driving me mad. I have not run for 5 months, I garden for a living and had to cut back on any heavy work, but feel that I am going round in circles as to what I can and cannot do.
I now feel that I can at least start to focus on some core strengh excercises, but if anyone has anymore suggestions that may help me make sure I do not have to put my trainers into retirement for good I would appreciate it.
