Are you trying to run too fast? I ran a much faster pace yesterday than I normally do and my legs are really aching tonight. I usually have a very gentle jog for about a mile then I stop and stretch before continuing with the rest of my run. I then stretch for about 5 minutes when I get home which usually stops any aches and pains.
Have some hot baths, rest as much as possible but maybe go for a walk instead of a run next time just to warm the muscles then have a good stretch when you get home again and get hubby to give you a massage (if you can you're lucky, mine hates doing mine!)
I know it's hard to stop yourself running quicker than you really should but believe me it's really helped me increase my distance by slowing right down.
Don't lose heart and if all else fails take pain killers before you start, read your book cus it tells you which ones you should and shouldn't take if your running.
I've become a happier person from running, I have pride in something I can do and have done myself with nobody else's help (except you guys) I'm losing weight I hadn't realised I had gained, I have always wanted to be able to run and used to have dreams of running along which was as effortless as walking and sometimes I actually achieve that!!!!!
When I am in a foul mood before I run I come back grinning from ear to ear and when I have a bad run it makes me more determined the next time I go out to do better. So far I haven't found any drawbacks from running and love the fact I can eat what I like and I'm not gaining any weight. My bum feels tighter, my legs feel stronger, even my arms have muscle again but the best effect for me is my sense of pride and feeling of happiness.
I share your glowing pride girly, I know exactly where your coming from and congratulate you. It's the best feeling in the world when you keep going isn't it, you will be amazed in a few more weeks you mark my words. I can now run non stop for between 30 and 45 minutes and I only started running in the middle of march. Just remember to take it slowly and you'll be amazed how quickly your stamina will build. I don't know about you but I can go for a run in the foulest mood and when I get back I'm all smiles and the nicest person in the world.......it's like taking a happy pill
You keep feeling proud and let me know the next time you go out for a run how you did, we can pat each other on the back.
