Thanks Charlie W.  We don't post much these days, but we like to still catch up with folk at the Red Lion.

Hope the London Marathon runners off this thread have a good day at the office!  We will be spectating out on the course and I'm sure BR will spot a few of you with his eagle eyes!  Will also be at the Red Lion later so I'm sure a few of you will be there too.  Run strong and trust in your training!

Hi Sarah,

Well done on keeping to your plan on the 5 (4.21) miler!  Nice to say hello.  Although had to look a bit of silly sausage asking other females in your club, all who seem to have blonde hair, are you Sarah?   Anyhow, you're right I did drop out.  As said before the race I've not been feeling too good just had no energy.  I had a stomach bug that lasted for about a week leading up to the very hilly 5 miler, then this week suffered empty legs.  I think I'm just about over it now so can start to think about training again.  It's just one thing after another at present, but I have to try and remain positive and think there's many out there worse off.  I will be back and running strong soon for sure!  On that note have an excellent run on Sunday, keep strong, believe in your training and enjoy the atmosphere!  Best of wishes!!

Hi Sarah, yes I plan on doing all 4 of the road league races this year and the Penistone course is just a little distance from where I live so can jog there.   The last time I did them was in 2007!  I thought they would be a good way to help me regain fitness, the only thing is I do have to watch my rivals shoot off up the road, which isn't always easy.   But it will be fun clawing my way back.  Not too sure I'll be anywhere near a long way ahead of you at any of them to tell the truth.  You're running really well!  I need a good 6 weeks of consistent training to feel confident of pushing it, just happy to be running properly again at present.  I guess you will have to run a bit easier next week with London only days away?

Minni - she is indeed!  As for showing respect to the 'great Hilly' please! You make me sound like Paula Radcliffe, when all I am is a normal club runner

Anyhow, as a runner I always respect all runners around me and know that on any given day there will be people flying past me, up and coming runners on the improvement curve, runners who are having better runs etc. etc.  To be honest I'm not in competitive shape and was happy to be able to cope with the hills and come away without any achilles pain!! As you say it's been a tough few months and training has at times been minimal at the most.  But things are now looking up and I'm going to enjoy the climb back to fitness more than I enjoyed those climbs last night for sure

Yes we plan on spectating at London.  I have done so a few times and really enjoy the day and then meeting up with friends at the Red Lion afterwards before the return home later that day.

You seem to be in good shape, so hope all goes well for you on the day too!
