Regarding the charity 'do's' post marathon, my charity - Macmillan Cancer Support - held an ace (and free) recovery thing; I had fantasised for the best part of my v. slow marathon about something other to eat than starbursts and I wasn't disappointed by the sandwiches, chocolate, hot drinks and massage on offer. Ooh that cheese sandwich was heavenly! On top of that, I was clapped in to the building like I was a star (which my husband keeps telling me I am).
I thoroughly enjoyed the occasion too, but have a couple of thoughts on how I think it might be improved. How about a staggered start, the first for all those racing snakes, 15 minutes later a fun-runners start and the final start for the walkers? I am not sure that the route lends itself to dedicated lanes for walkers etc. This year was my third year and even though I would like to see some changes I will definitely be back next year!
