Is it a good idea to ware a wet suite for Tough Guy?
Does Billy Wilson live up to his description?
I've done Tough Guy a few times and I'm in charge of the 130 Loughborough Students taking part this year. I have seen a few people do it in shortie wetsuits but not many. My 2 pence worth for kit is make sure you have good shoes and I've always covered my knees and elbow with skins so that you don't get horrid cuts that can get horribly infected.
As for Billy Wilson... I know Billy reasonably well and he certainly is eccentric, we interviewed him just before Christmas and you can view it here at our team website http://toughguy.lsrag.co.uk/. He doesn't change when he's off camera either, it's pretty genuine.
Good luck to everyone for Sunday and look out for the sea of pink that is Loughborough.
I think I'm a bit out of the loop. So here's an update from me.
I have been running in my Students' Union Elections for the past 3 weeks, which has meant I've been campaigning solidly from 7am to 2am everyday for 3 weeks. So training and runnersworld have taken a massive hit, along with healthy eating and healthy levels of stress. I have barely run for 4 weeks now. So I am now getting back into training and I have reassessed my sub4 goal, and now survival and crossing the finish line is all I'm looking for.
I have got M&P half tomorrow, which will be my first proper run in a while, so I will then be able to gauge how much damage my fitness has taken. Unfortunatley over the last three weeks I have lost a stone, so I am now more worried than ever to make sure I keep weight on.
I was wondering if anyone on here has ever had to take a big break in training in the run up to a marathon and if so, what advice would you give me? I am still as determined as ever to make it to Paris and want to give myself thebest chance I can of completing it.
Right, just a quick post to say I'm still alive. This years Tough Guy was loads worse than last. It was cold and it even started snowing soon after I finished. Rest day tomorrow and then full focus on Paris.
Glad you liked the tshirts . there were a fair few of us. I'm eagerly awaiting the team results as someone said Mr Mouse thought we'd come first for the team comp. One of our guys came 5th overall and a fair few were home under 1:35.
I finished in 2:25 and it was considerably harder than last year.
Longer run, new obstacles, more water, SOOOOO much colder. It was the cold that nearly killed me.
Ria well done on finishing. I don't think I could have coped being cold for any longer than I was. It took me a long time to get warm after.
