I've been looking for a thread to help diagnose my problem. Lirish I was wondering whether we share the same injury. Pain developes on the outside of the knee as the run progresses. Not in the joint but in the boney bit level with the cap and an inch or two lower. Gets to the point where speed drops, and eventually walking for a couple of hundred yards then OK to run a bit more. All went wrong after a few few longer runs and then half way through 20 m. So limped home. Does this sound familiar. Anybody got name for it? |

Hi Steve, No advise because I think that might be what I've got. hoped we could compare symptons. Mine is on the outside of the knee in the hard bits, I suppose where muscle meets tendon. I am training for a marathon and got the first trouble on an 18 miler. Gave it 8 days before attempting a 20 and that's when I really felt it. Trouble at 9 miles, OK to run after a 200 metre walk then run maybe half a mile before the pain was back and have to walk again. I know that all sounds crazy but I had to get home. Does this sound similar to your problem. If so do you know what exactly is happening and what's icy hot? Cheers, good luck Gabriel |
