Ai 'Dave' carrying Blackpool tower was amazing the support he was getting was helping me get through and it was pure entertainment watching him negotiate the lower bridges
Zaftig - no magic formula since I was at school I have always trained to push hard at that last section steadily increasing the pace at the end to give 100% the last 100m but Sunday I found the landmarks quite motivating and there was just something extra special about the crowds at the end still there in the rain it was pure adrenaline/dopamine carrying me through
As for socks cheap and cheerful Karrimor running socks from sports direct less than £5 for 2 pairs and they have awesome cushioning for me they do the job
Cheers guys the aches aren't too bad and the requirement to walk the dog is keeping me mobile but treating myself to a sports massage tomorrow
As for rain I have never been so cold as getting caught in a torrential downpour on Sunday although it was motivation to run between bridges and walk under them I was so grateful for marshals appearing with ponchos and foil blankets even if they weren't needed for long for that 20mins or so my shorts and t-shirt combo was wholly inappropriate
I like the t-shirt better than I expected Im a size 12-14 larger chested lady and it is a comfortable fit and much better in comparison to the thin white cotton one I got at the Cardiff half (only xl left as 'allegedly spectators had been collecting goody bags before the slower of us got round) and at the Wilmslow half the other week nice technical t but they ran out of goody bags before I finished (a few hundred of us missed out I think)
From the shirts I have got at other races this is the only one that isnt see through!
As for the rest of the goody bags its "free" stuff based on what companies supply the razor is actually very good as Id forgotten to pack mine and the ice gel things were amazing used one when I got back to the hotel and one the next morning before I left to attempt the stairs to the tube
It's been far too long but thought I'd pop back and see if anyone is still checking in
Well I am still in a happy haze after finishing the London marathon on Sunday training hadn't exactly gone to plan and I ended up getting a nasty cough a few weeks before the event but I decided to go for it and just take it easy if my body told me to at any point
Yes I was slow but I kept going and apart from a few aches I am blister and injury free and based on the extreme time now thinking that with the training and pace increase I have the mental drive to try an ultra maybe I lost some sanity somewhere around canary wharf
Either way I think it's back to basics for me I had kinda lost my running mojo pre race with being ill but now I'm looking for some summer challenges and actually stop plodding and start running
Hope everyone is well what have you all got planned in for the year ahead?
