Been a loooong time since I posted but have to say my first London marathon experience on Sunday was brilliant. Never experience crowd and crowd support in a race like that before and I think I will be giving it another go next year. Loved the little things too at the finish, the option for someone to remove the chip as I wouldn't have been able to do that, the fact that you get your medal put on at the finish, .....

Also the prep helped me destroy my previous HM pb Sill on a high, even though the last two miles were full of hamstring cramps (but the pace didn't drop off too much), and I did say as I crossed the line 'Never again'. Maybe I have some unfinished business. Going enjoy my rest week though as although legs aren't too bad I need to ensure I recover properly. Hope the

I have decided against doing the Brass Monkey this weekend as I have a place for the VLM and dont want to risk racing in the temperatures or possible underfoot conditions. Managed to train ok in it but racing is a whole different perspective. Think it will be an easy 17 miles instead .

I thought last night was bad but this morning run was no walk in the park - it does seem to have stopped now so hopefully I will have a dry training session tonight

I stalked the brass monkey web page daily to check when the online entries opened and managed to get a place last year. Unfortunately, as mr SJ said, the course is open to the elements and last year there was a brutal wind. There is no denying the PB potential if the course though so I want another go at it. Helps keep the training focus over the festive period too.

Good to see that the 2013 thread is full of white noise and lots of posts to catch up on. Congrats to XL on the new park run PB, its longer course these days so you ran a much quicker than your previous PB. Also a nice confidence boost ahead of redcar.

I had to miss the parkrun this weekend for a trip to Leigh for the Northern 6 stage. Had an ok run a week after the GNR on a very twisty course completing the 6.2k in 21:01 so good to be able to run quickly the week after the GNR.

Also decided to rest today to complete my easy week post GNR but back on it and I think my next longer term target will be the Brass Monkey half in January, so I will be keeping an eye for when the entries open for this race.
