I would be interested to hear how soon you were able to run Shelagh, I am due to have the same surgery on 17th May and hope to start marathon training 3 weeks later, I run 5 x a week / 40-50 miles at the moment, very fit and when marathon training I run 6x weekly up to 70 miles.

I did a half as well yesterday, decided to just run how I felt but went out fairly hard and was on for a PB until about 9 miles, pace & form started to drop then as I felt tired all of a sudden, finished in 1:33:14, so around 90 seconds slower than my best time, I think there is a PB there for me next year if I train well
