Hi both,

Yes, I did Brighton last year and found it a very well organised and enjoyable event (although we were blessed with lovely sunny weather which made it all the more pleasant). The course starts off fairly flat, with 5 miles or so around Brighton, before you climb up past the Roedean (sp?) school along the coast. You then turn around at the top and have a nice downhill stretch with lovely views over the sea, getting you back to the vicinity of the pier and the half way mark. Further running around the town follows, before you get to the one "not-so-great" bit of the course as you do a loop around the power station area - not too many spectators which coincides with the dreaded 20-22 mile point. It's then a nice flat run along the seafront back to the pier and finish line.

I used the park & ride service... this was free last year, but I note they are charging a tenner this time round, which is a shame. This was also well organised last year, and I found I didn't have to wait for very long at all to get the bus back.

Overall, a very positive experience - enough people there to make it feel like a big event, but not so many that you were stuck in bottle necks and having to walk for spells. It's for that reason that I am running Brighton and not making use (this year) of my VLM ballot place.

Enjoy, and feel free to ask if you have any specific questions about the event

In! Third attempt at the ballot. Had forgotten about it tbh, so had a doubly pleasant surprise to find a 'congratulations' magazine on the dorrmat when i got in last night. It will be by second London Marathon, after previously getting in on a club place - looking forward to it all the more now I don't have the fear of wondering whether my body can do it or not

I did Brighton this year and London in 2010, and enjoyed both in equal measure. Obviously London is a huge event, but Brighton was very well organised and supported as well. I didn't have so many problems with getting suck in crowds of people/bottlenecks at Brighton, and the scenery is a lot nicer.... but then you don't get the fantastic wall of noise that you get down the Embankment...... and iconic buildings as Brighton Pier and Pavilion may be, they're not Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge and the Tower of London..... but don't be downhearted if you don't get in next year, Brighton is a great day in it's own right.

Best of luck Megster - I dream of dipping below 4 hours, let alone actually running quickly, lol!!

Had a slow 45 minute run last night & legs were feeling ok, which was great after Monday's lethargy. Lots of nice rest (last day at work today for this week) should hopefully get me round ok.

Not quite a hare! - I haven't seen anything saying you can collect your number on Saturday in the race info pack.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one mad enough to be running two marathons so close together. I haven't run for more than 10 miles since Brighton, and felt pretty good. However, been feeling generally under the weather since the weekend, and my 5 miler yesterday felt a struggle. Hopefully a nice, easy week will see me okay.

Best of luck to all, and hope to see some of you on the day
