Well done to all racers, pb setters and trainers this weekend .
I'd not come across the idea of planning runs post race before.
I completed the new forest marathon today, my first, time was around the 4.25 mark which was pleasing though I was passed by a few folks towards the end.
I don't have a wide experience of these events but to have universally cheerful and supportive .Marshall and drinks helpers out in the heavy rain was a real boon on the way round. The course seemed reasonably gentle though there was a long steepish hill around 23 miles in. It's classed as mixed terrain because there is over 3 miles off road and this was rather waterlogged. Still it's a PB by virtue of being the first.
Thanks for a positive informative thread too to help keep on track |

NP - 20 miles on a treadmill? That's really difficult, I find the treadmill good for short distances and doing structured intervals but I have difficulty doing more than 30 to 40 minutes. RMK - That sounds nasty with the shin, hopefully rest and ice will sort it. Injury can be so frustrating as well as painful. Same for YC there, hopefully that achilles soreness will clear up before your marathon. No running for me this weekend, but did white water rafting in Wales which was good fun, not much good for the training programme though. I just plan a couple of shortish runs this week and then it's the New Forest marathon Sunday, No target time for it, just the aim to get round. If I can do it then that can be my target for the next time. |

Sounds like I'm quite lucky with the weather, sunny and fresh out for me this morning. Impressive figures being posted here e.g Gaz, 20 miles in the same time as I managed 17 today, Kaz 21 miles in stormy weather, Teknik on a huge week. I had intended to do 20 today but the route I did ended up shorter than I thought it was. Still, my farthest run by far and it was my last sensible time to go long before next weekend. Pretty much shuffling by the end but my legs still have some aching left from the weekend so I'm trying not to be too negative about it. White water rafting and a few short runs before next weekend and then it'll be time to set a new target. |
