Of course - i don't have small children so they're no longer as demanding on my time.
I completed VLM last year and a half ironman but those were the only 2 events i entered (so fairly relaxed beleive it or not). This year has been more about serious triathlon training. I've put a lot of effort into getting my technique right in the pool and i've increased my time in the saddle (long rides on a sat as well as a mid week one) I tend to do one long and one small run per week as well. I do have 1 or 2 rest days per week so i think i'm ok there.
I would say i sleep from 6-9 hours each night and don't feel excessively tired most of the time. I eat about 4 small meals on the day and normally a big one at night
How does this sound to you?
Ps as some general advice - does anyone take supplements to aid muscle recovery?
I appreciate this differs depending on what exercise you're doing but after a good run or cycle on the Weekend i usually follow this. (please let me know if i'm missing anything)
I normaly stretch for a good 10-15 mins before hitting the shower. At the end of the shower i turn off the hot water and give me legs a good blast of the cold for about 5 mins. I'll then change and use the foam roller on my hamstrings, quads, and calves.
After consuming some food and fluids i normally take an ibuprofen before icing any sore areas. Finally i take a nap if it's not too late to help my body on it's recovery.
I'm not an epxert but by follwoing the above i've significantly reudced how much i ache the following day.
