the santa's little helper pic will have to stay for now...just looked at the photos and there's a great one of my running partner (pb, well done) who I ran side by side with the whole way, another person, and half of me, but none where I'm the main subject!
hahaha, kinda sums up my experience of the day really
However once I get my photo from Sportscam (only the 1/2 ones have yet to be posted) I'll see if I can upload it so I don't keep posting under the spooky shaded person logo!
every time I enter a "big" race, I always seem to end up saying never again. The best races I have done (nice course, nice marshalls, well organized, t-shirts that fit or nice things at the end like tea and cake(!) etc) have been local ones of just a couple of hundred people. Brighton was a long way to come for what was a v average event! And as a native scouser it disappoints me to say that.
Never mind, I'm gonna do a local club women's 10k mince pie run thing in Dec. When I did my first half (windsor) I got a 10k PB in a run a few weeks later, so here's hoping!
No goody bags, not even a busker en route (only the car crash about 6.5 miles to liven the route up...) and, best of all, when I finished (2:08 for only my second half, so not that bad) and went to collect my pre-ordered t-shirt I was told "sorry, no small ones left, have a medium!". I'm 5 foot 1!!! I mean, if you ordered something from a shop, paid in advance and then showed up to get it and was given something else, you wouldn't be too chuffed would you?? Happily Yvonne from the L1310k office (rang yesterday to complain) is sorting me and my runing partner out with an appropriately sized shirt "in the post". As races go it was ok, felt v lonely once all the 10k-ers filtered off though. Prob won't do this one again although it was nice to visit my home city.
congrats to all on the forum, some excellent times.
Message for the still-chipless (myself included!). I called the number given on this forum (v helpful, ta) and the guy who answered said they'd been a bit swamped with entries and have been struggling to get them all out. If you have a race number lower than 3,000 (how many people are there in this race??!!!) you collect your stuff on the day. If not, yr chip was sent out on Monday so it's on its way.
My race number is 140-something, so I'll have my mum waiting nr the letterbox in anticipation!
