Thought I would share some experiences I have had with race day morning / evening nutrition for those who havent sorted theirs out yet
Its worth getting breakfast plans sorted for race morning - great staying in hotels and B&Bs but sometimes getting the right breakfast early before a race is tricky.
Weetabix seems to work for me - porridge if available but I dont like the instant porridge stuff so usually go with the weetabix option
Tea/Coffee always good for me too though I know its not for everyone before a race
Same with anything, only eat/drink those items you have got used to whilst training.
I nearly always over hydrate before a race and end up on last minute toilet breaks or, worse, having to stop early on in the race and losing time. I will go with 500ml when I wake, sipped up to an hour before the race and then stop drinking until after the race starts
Also - dont overeat the night before, and eat early - I'm aiming for no later than 6pm though I wont go to bed too early as want to be tired enough to get to sleep
