Ouch, Ouch, Ouch, Ouch...I had both big toes nails moved completely 20 years ago as I had four in growing, 2 on both big toes.  This is not a pleasant operation to have to go through, I couldn't walk let alone run for a month.  My advice would be take the pressure off, do twice daily warm salt water baths, let it get better as much as possible before you start doing any high impact stuff.  I agree with Cake, go swimming - you can do leg work only to keep leg strength up and  do core strength exercise work.

Good luck

Smiley lady - I think you're right, it maybe was something in the third pool and the residue hasn't come off my goggles/hat yet...maybe I should pop them in the dishwasher

Bouncing Barlist - I don't think I can swim without goggles although when i start open water swimming i might give it a go...

Ha! ha! ha!!! Hello Mitts! Yeah maybe it was one of the people in front of me... I'm sure saw a couple of scabs and a toe nail bobbing along the bottom of the pool the other night...   Thanks for the weblink, I'll have a look and see what there is later.

I've been swimming for 09 Triathlons seriously since September '08.  In the last three weeks i've developed an allergic reaction to my goggles as well as my swim hat!  I swim in two pools but the reation started in a third pool when on holiday (so it could be the water). I've thrown both my hats away and have ordered Spandex (!) onces to replace them with.  Is there anyone else out there who has had a simlar reaction and if so how did they solve it?

I'm getting desperate because my swimming has gone from 3 times a week down to once in order for my skin to recover plus I'm taking antihistamine to help but really want to get this sorted so I can get back on plan...

Thanks in advance

Thanks guys, really appreciate it.  I think i've cycled to Drymen (on MTBs on road - eek!) but I'm happy to cycle there (on road bike) and then run as I'm training for triathlons this summer.
