BTW,

Think I'm going to stick with Shimano then, I've got tiagra on my current bike so 105 should be an improvement. Now I need to decide on compact or standard set up, I'm thinking compact as a half way house from my current granny ring set up.

A cautionary note about kicking dogs.

A few years ago, whilst living in darkest Wales, about 15 miles in to an 18 mile run I had the pleasure of having my achilles attacked by a Border Collie. Border Collie then ran ahead of me and turned back to have another go from the front. I duly kicked the dog as hard as I could, caught it a peach under it's jaw. Dog duly yelped and scurried away. DB shuffled on to the end of the run, also in a little pain. It turns out that dogs have really bony heads and running shoes don't really offer much protection, bruising was quite spectacular and caused enough discomfort to count as a proper excuse for watching tv instead of running.

Anyway, real question is SRAM Rival or Shimano 105? Is the SRAM kit £100 better than the 105? Will I feel £100 faster?

Wickett, that's shite mate.

Mate of mine dropped dead last year, no reason, brain haemothingy, makes you think, makes you take stock, makes you wonder why you worry about the future if there's a chance you won't get there, suppose the best plan is to live for today and keep half an eye on the future just in case you survive.
