I'll be doing bala half IM as warm up for Swedish long course championships in Kalmar southern smurf land where my father inlaw lives. I did the last one as my first triathlon outing in 15 years! A great small race with about 600 entrants and early entry was only 100 squid, well supported by the locals and flatish scenic course. No towels at the end but a tee shirt and comemorative plaque.
After a dare from my Swedish father in law I entered the Swedish long course championships in Kalmar. Talk about half baked this left me 8 months to get in the pool which I havent done for years as well as do some running with the longest run in five years being about five miles!!! This stupidity of challenge was compounded by it being the final year of my Adult nursing degree, dissertation and placements kinda get in the way of anything that could be called consistant training.
when the day finally came all was good and I crossed the line in good shape after a very long day 13:30 which didn't set the tri world on fire. The Kalmar long course tri is a great event, cheap to enter and although small (600 entrants) super friendly and well supported by the locals
This year i'll be doing it all again heading out to Sweden for the race at the end of july and will be hopefully in pirates colours and plan to do Bala middle distance as a warm up, so see you all there.
