I have just decided to do this, and as a measure of my keenness (that looks weird) I will forgo the second bottle of Merlot after dinner. Now all i have to do is work out how to get back from Watford to the car park at the start...... |

Lighthouse? Now there's something you don't see every day. Well, not where I live anyway. Could be the clincher for me. I will check with Offspring One dot Zero whether or not it is willing to get out of its sweaty pit early enough for the 2 hour drive, and if so probably have a crack at this one. She is currently suffering from Whine Flu, characterised by incessant bitching and whingeing after the first 150 metres of any race, regardless of terrain, weather, or degree of difficulty. I notice from the map that it's nearly in Holland, by the way, so maybe the Dutch Boy will be interested too. The Lighthouse, I take it, is on the land part of the map? This isn't like the Bell Rock Half Marathon, which used to be 319 laps of the lighthouse but was cancelled after both competitiors allegedly drowned one year when the tide came in early? |

How undulating is undulating? I got caught out by this a couple of months back when I entered a race that should really have been fitted with steps, a handrail, and a Stannah Stair Lift. it was entirely uphill for the first 10K, by which time I was so knackered that the second (downhill) half seemed to be tilted uphill too. I needed a shave by the time I finished. On the other hand, a Dutch friend of mine complained bitterly about the "hills" on a particular course, when what he meant was the single motorway underpass on an otherwise optically flat, fen-land course. So, back to my question. How "undulating" is it? |
