A year ago after completing the Gaolforce Challenge I suddenly found myself with chapped lips, not any old chapping but seriously sore.  When it didn't go away I eventually went to the Doctors and discovered it was lack of Iron.  I've been taking an Iron supplement ever since, and more recently completely changed my diet to be almost vegan but with heaps of green vegetables.  I'm doing really well on it.  Now training for my first Ultra marathon (http://fortyfourmiles.blogspot.com/2011/12/getting-to-my-ideal-running-weight.html)

Pleased to say I no longer have chapped lips!

It is great to see these as I've struggled to get to my racing weight for years.  Actually managing to put on weight training for the London Marathon in 2007 and training this year for my first Ironman 70.3.  I have though over the last two and a half months managed to get down to what feels like a great weight for me training hard and following the Carol Vorderman detox diet.  It actually feels like this one has worked and is sustainable.  I talk all about it in my blog (http://fortyfourmiles.blogspot.com/2011/12/getting-to-my-ideal-running-weight.html)

Going to incorporate some of the ideas from Plan C and see if that puts me in even better shape!

Just back in following a rather blowy 9 miler, half muddy trail and half road, managed to not get rained on though - think that is coming later today. It was one of those runs where I didn't quite have enough in the tank to push, never quite sure whether that is a mental or physical thing.
