I am doing the Kielder Marathon in Oct and wondered how people found last years, course, fuel stations, spectators etc.

I have just done the Edinburgh and as I cam away relatively unscathed I thought I'd enter this one!!  I know Edinburgh is flat and have heard Kielder is undulating.

 Road shoes or trail shoes??

Does anyone know how to change the pace setting on Garmin 205 to show you the pace average whilst in use?

Thanks.  I think its a bit late to try this now as it was over 3 weeks ago but it is a good tip for future races.  That's if I can run again - I'm still in a lot of pain if I try anything other than a walk.  Hopefully the physio can work her magic on Monday!!

3 weeks ago I ran a half marathon (my 3rd this year) and came away from it with a pain in my groin which goes down my thigh into my knee.  It happens when I walk and the top of the groin is stretched and if I am lay flat on my back and and I try and raise my leg.  It also hurts when I lift my leg to put on the clutch when driving.  The pain is not constant and is not there when resting.  It feels like cramp and sometimes my leg gives when when standing.  GP has given me painkillers which haven't worked, I have tried hot baths, rest, gentle walking but nothing helps.  Got a physio appt on Monday.

Any ideas on what this could be would be gratefully received.

CumbriAndy: This is quite bizarre as I do live in Cumbria but I am from Nottingham originally!!  I know someone that did the Winderemere, she's quite fit, and she hated it.  She said she'd never do another one after that!!

Nottingham sounds a good option, I didn't know they had one!!  Ideal being in September (hopefully won't be as hot) and I can throw in a family visit whilst I'm at it!!
