3.04:00 and a 12 second pb for me at London today. Felt strong till 24 miles then limped home with cramp yet again. Hopefully good enough for GFA again next year. On reflection i'm reasonably pleased as caught a nasty cold when tapering and barely ran in the prior two weeks. I got to 55mpw this time. I think i need to go up again with possibly a 24 miler six weeks out next time to conquer the cramps.
Hard luck Tom, so close. I'm sure all on here would agree you've done a great job with the forum and on a good day you will clearly obliterate 3 hours. Chalk it up as just one of them things and nail it next time.
So close now Tom and thanks for sharing the carb plan. Its very similar to my rough plan save for swapping porridge for cereal. I too also swear by the mighty malt loaf!
7 miles today for me bringing me up to 55.25 miles for the week. My highest ever and now into taper for London. Hoping to avoid the usual madness this brings with abit of pilates.
Abit of a random question but given the wealth of knowledge on this forum....any thoughts on using kinesiology tape on the legs for the marathon? Ive suffered from late race cramps on my hamstrings in the past and hear some swear by it.
Just catching up after a hectic work related week. Sorry to here of calf/back issues Tom and Steve. Hope these sort themselves out pronto.
Not had the best week myself as well. Ive somehow managed to break a finger rather badly on a safety awareness course (irony!) and now have to wear a splint for two months. Not a major issue with the marathon and training i guess (except ensuring it remains splinted, clean and dry'ish) but a complication for pretty much everything else as its on my writing hand. Annoying!
