First marathon completed!! 4hrs 38 - didnt have a time in mind and now wish had managed under 430 but quite happy for a first attempt! (particularly as very little sleep the two nights before due to Parisians partying all night and morning on our street, beeping their horns (is it not possible to just beep once!!?), revving scooters etc - very noisy!) Really enjoyed the course though and the atmosphere. Any recommendations for a marathon as good as Paris? (thats no hotter than paris either! the sun felt very warm when running especially since training has involved minus degrees the majority of the time!) Well done everyone who ran - oh and we spied the flag at the beginning and end great support! |

Weather forecast is looking good for next sunday- i.e. not too hot!! (although the forecast i last saw was for snow and sleet two days before so that had better stay away) My next run is planned for Sunday - what distance should i be running do you think? This week i've done 7 miles on monday, 3 on weds and 4 yesterday. Also, I liked the email of the day from the marathon people: Your medical certificate: you will need to furnish it when yougo to pick up your number. Now how to furnish a medical certificate?! |

I love Gold bars. My favourite biscuit - ever better than Jaffa Cakes. If I put 8 of them in my gel belt they would all be gone by the 1K marker.
I am feeling run down, tired, have a sore head and throat so I'm taking a night off. Don't feel guilty at all. As long as I am OK for another 20 miles this weekend I'll be happy. Me too, i love them!, i save one until about 8-10 miles and look forward to it so much that i run faster haha (sad i know lol). Dragged myself to running club last night, so nearly turned car around and went home but really glad i went. It does make it easier sometimes having other people to push you along. Hope everyones injuries clear up for the race |

well doing first 20 miler on sunday eeek - planned a nice route to go on and weather is looking ok but not looking forward to it seeing as the weekend and this week has involved 30th birthday, engagement and copious amounts of drinking and eating! (as well as a couple of 7 milers)...think at this rate i'll be rolling along the paris marathon route oops. Is it bad that i cant WAIT until all this training is over!!?? Got a 10k off road race a week on sat, then going to try to get out to do a 14 miler on the sunday and from there start to reduce things. Really just want to get to Paris and get running! In recent weeks i've also found my perfect running food....gold bars....i know wierd but just cant get to grips with the gels / shot blocs etc. so hopefully they will sustain me round the marathon! |

Vic_83 - I was dehydrating all the time so got a camelpak which was a great help. Since then thanks to better training and more appropriate clothing, I sweat less, dehydrate less, drink less. I drink every 5k as per the water stations so I wont be wearing mine on the day. Although I would also welcome advice from wiser runner on drinking (water). I've tried to weigh myself before and after but I get more confused. I wear a belt and this year I'll be carrying water as well as gels - about half a litre and I doubt I'll need more than that unless it's hot. It's not going to be hot, is it??!! thanks for advice. i will cry if its hot Hate running in any amount of heat....bring on the snow haha. |
