Sub four was my hope in 2012 and finally got a place in London in the lottery after ten years so better get going again including having a browse on here with you good folks of the sub four club. Done a 4.08 in blistering heat at Edinburgh for my second marathon and last year did a 1.36 flat half marathon but the last six to eight miles is the issue for me and marathons so need to strength train I guess and up the miles long and slow. All the best to you folks winter training. Its hailing here in Derbyshire at the moment as hurricane Barbara passes over us!!!! Might skip tonight and go in the morning!!
I have signed up for Coniston 14 which is end of March my wife daughters and son in law all running it oooo and my sis in law. Then try to get to the start of VLM. Agree that over cooking when injured not good and yet stamina is needed to do that 26.2 and in the past I have struggled badly from 16 onwards. Stick legs is the issue and probably too tall to be a long distance runner. Time to get some road shoes I guess I only have off road shoes. Just done a bit in the Lakes off road love it. Scafell, YewBarrow and Ilgil all round Wasdale lovely Joss Naylor country. Time to get out there in the dark and stop talking about it.
I am in for the first time in the ballot though I did do a bad charity place at London 4.35 in 2010 and a very sweaty 4.08 in Edinburgh in 2012 when it was so hot most folk died on the course, since I have done a few halves and got better though in the last couple of years I have been injured off and on. So here goes lets try again, love to crack 4 hours and have done a 1.36 half last year. Age and legs against me but here goes. Wish me well!!
