I know it has been like for ever......sorry. Loads going on work and personal still. We lost Bo (dog) on 25th Feb. 9 weeks start to finish. Haven't had chance to read back and catch up but sorry to hear about your job Caz - sorry to hear DT out of London. Good news that training has gone well Dave. Good luck for Sunday. Congrats to Grandad Philby Well done GE - fantastic time and what better way to lay to bed those Paris ghosts!
Just had to log on today after the awful events in Boston. These senseless atrocities are terrible no matter what, but when they touch on something so close to home it intensifies that disbelief I guess................basically I just needed to check in with my running buddies and give you all a great big ((((hug))))
So sorry to hear that news mcs. Doesn't seem to make sense does it? Good luck on the outcome - hopefully the shut down gives you plenty of time to adjust and start the new job hunt.
It's tough out there that's for certain. Thankfully, ***touches wood*** we have work coming in so it is just a case of being a bit more street wise, less charitable, making a few more sensible harsh decisions and hopefully we'll pull through.
The Crunchie was mmmmmmmmm!! - Not convinced 1 would do the trick - so I bought a packet of 3!!
Loads of rain last night so roadie maybe out tomorrow!! Woo! Hoo! Good luck today Dave in the XC.
'Tis I the AWOL Welsh one!! Sorry for not keeping in touch .......... or maybe it's been a refreshing change for you all.
I have posted on FB but will mention on here a massive Well done to Phil on the Disney experience. Superb considering how ill you'd been feeling. Good to see you enjoying that pint......definitely deserved.
Haven't had time to read back yet over all the other exploits. Life has been pretty naff and very manic. Loads going on. Too much stress and worry - but getting to the stage now where it is bothering me less cos basically it doesn't make an ounce of difference. Ho hum!
Running.......hmmmm....well, it is intermittent to say the least. Ran last Thursday 9 miles as snow was forecast for Friday. And for once they were right. So didn't get out again until last night - 7 miles. Need to start upping it as I have Llanelli half in early March. New bike for Xmas (roadie) has been out twice Anytime the weather was OK I had something else going on. And until the last of this ice clears it just is not worth the risk. But absolutely love it when I can get on it.
Have made a decision that I am not entering another marathon this year. Until work settles down the level of training and stress pushes me over the edge and I end up ill. Half marathons meanwhile I can cope with now relatively pain free. So the full will have to wait until 2014. One of the plus points of work is that a few of us have gone on short time - me included. Well it doesn't quite work as Shaun still bugs me but I have Fridays off now which is great - not from a money point of view - but time wise fabby dooby.
Now last bit of news - bit sad, and I know not all people will get the upset - but one of our Spaniels (bo) hasn't been too good lately. Tests yesterday have flagged up that she has a tumour in her chest cavity. As it is growing there is less room for her organs. Hence her heart is pushed to the side and her lungs are getting restricted. No treatment - just a waiting game. She is fine at the moment. Slower than her sister and taking her time. Off her food a bit. But still enjoying life. I just have to monitor her. Just about sums up the last few months of life in the Evans household.
How parents cope with similar news about their children is beyond me. Frightening.
Right I'm off before I'm shouted at for being depressing on a Friday. Time for me to go and find a Crunchie
Have a good weekend all. Will attempt to log back on over the weekend to catch up on all the recent activity. Take care all - be safe. x
Well just about sorted for Xmas in work. Cannot wait for the break. Things have settled down although issues still remain but Rome wasn't built in a day. Thanks for all your kind thoughts - it means a lot.
Running wise - oh crikey! - longest runs at the moment are only about 6 or so. But getting out at least twice if not 3 times a week so ticking over. Have felt like I've had a cold or cough brewing for weeks now but managing to keep it at bay. Shaun though is hacking and snorting and spluttering like a fool for the last week. Have spent 1 night in Ryan's bed and 1 night in Sam's bed so far just to get some sleep. But Sam has now put pay to that - raided the house last night and took all his bedroom furniture up to his new house. I freaked slightly as he gave me no warning. Words went along the lines of 'you're wrecking my house to make yours look lovely!' ...................I was tired. They've been knocking the house around and doing improvements so basically living - no sorry, camping - there. Yesterday had bedroom carpet fitted so had to get the room all finished. Oh to be 23 again.
Took some Night Nurse last night just to try and knock myself out (and drown the snoring next to me!) - blooming 'eck - never used it before. Slept like a log. Concerned I could now get seriously addicted.
Phil - I do not envy you at all having to do marathon training through this weather. The thought of it alone makes me shiver. Will be entering Snowdon again next year though I think. And going to enter The long Course weekend at Tenby - swim, bike and run - Friday, Sat and Sunday.
Shaun has bought me a bike - combined Birthday and Xmas pressie. Still in the shop in Cardiff so haven't been on it yet. Really looking forward to getting back on the road and hoping that the cross training will bring my times down. That's the plan anyway. See what happens in Llanelli half in March. Really like a 1.4***?
Well guys - just incase I don't manage to log back on - hope you all have a fantastic Xmas and a very Merry (Sober in Phil's case!) New Year!! - take care all. Stay safe.
Evening guys! Just about a month since I've posted. Yikes! where does the time go?
Glad to see you wonderful people are not only keeping the thread going but also the running - and drinking and running Dave
Welcome back WR. beginning to wonder where you'd got to. And good to hear you had another good week in Cyprus GE.
I haven't got much to report on the running front. Got the Pudding Run on the 16th again. Only 10k but with some killer hills - starts off on Europes biggest sand hill - the Big Dipper. Things have been ridiculously stressful lately. Work has been difficult due to family issues within shaun's family - it's a family business so say no more. Can't get away from it. And then unfortunately on the 15th Shaun's Gran passed away. Although she had dementia which had been getting progressively worse it was all quite quick in the end. A blessing but tough.
So running has been minimal and mainly medicinal with no real purpose except to clear my head.
Roll on 2013.
Take care all - will try harder to keep up - with the typing and the running lol x
