VL - one gel before he started and I think 3 during the race and a few slurps of isotonic drink so better than usual . Six bags of salt & vinegar crisps after. I had a packet of chocolate hobnobs and a box of chocolates but he doesnt know about the chocolates so sssshhhhhh.
Good luck BB/FOAR/J8 -hope you have a great trip and things go right for you during the race.
SARQ - M does not like doing race reports so I will summarise for him. He was going well up until mile 22 - felt comfortable and very focused (he looks like a murderer on all the photos) then at mile 22 it all went pear shaped and he started to slow dramatically - last mile took him 9 minutes. I think he is too efficient at burning glycogen and not good at storing it - when he goes, he goes big time and its like flicking a switch - one minute running stongly and the next really struggling. Anyway, he dragged himself to the finish and I am very proud of him.
He says he is not racing another but is going to pace me to sub 3 next year. I might ask him to pace me to mile 22 and I then I will handle it myself from there.
