I an 56 and been running since I stopped playing football in my early 30 s. I had a couple of epileptic seizures in my teens but went for years with nothing. 10 years ago I had another on a bike.To cut a long story short I have been on a range of medication and currently on keppra and epanutin. My problem is that I have absence seizures which means I stop ,stay still, for anything between 2 and 20seconds. it hen am ok.I am a member of a local running club and over the last 6 months I have been having more of these seizures while running. People in the club know all about it and if I have one someone will stay with me. but it it is a real pain and I wanted to know if anyone else had a similar condition who ran and what they had done about it. reading the entries I think there is still a lot of ignorance about the condition but would be interested in hearing from others.
Just been reading all the entries. What a fantastic event! I could not believe the weather on the sunday and the pipe band walking through at the beginning was something else.
It was great to meet up with Dave, Alister, Cabbey and partner plus someone else whose name I did not get. The poster was great. I also went there at the end but the blokes just looked at me strangely when I said were they anything to do with the Forum!
Thanks to Bill who ran with me the whole way. I did it in 3-59-47 which was brilliant as i wanted to break 4. Everything went well to 20 hitting 8-30min mls til 15 and passing 20at 2-55. The last 4 miles were terrible espec the last 2 and thanks to Bill for the encouraging me that last mile. I was 1627 and one of the pics shows me staring at my garmin checking the time. Bill is in blue next to me in another one. Also saw Dave at the start.
Everyone seems to have achieved what they set out to do and it has been really helpful being on the forum
Goldeagle-were you wearing a blue and white Dudley and Kingswinford blue and white shirt because I saw you twice during the run?
I was also stuck waiting for the Bham flight but it was good just to sit down. It was good seeing a lot of people wearing the black tshirts from the race round Inverness.
