Haha... thanks Matt. First time on here more or less in the last month so apologies for not knowing what everyone's been up to! Don't have the time to read a month's worth of posts but I did see Dachs' 5k on FB - a well deserved 15:xx. Well done mate.
as for me, I haven't really ran since the duathlon on 27 June. Not sure if it's extensor tendonitis or a stress fracture in my left foot but either way, I've been limping since then and only really been able to put weight on it since last week, as long as I'm wearing cushioned shoes. Hopping or running though are out the question and I've written of the rest of the summer.
Still, the lack of ability to train means I've been working on my drinking ability which I must say, is going from strength to strength!
Duathlon for me this morning so no racing for rest of weekend. 5km run / 20 km bike / 5 km run. Legs are shot now! Never done one before so not sure what to expect. Plan was to go out at 10km pace for first 5k to keep some in the tank - came in a bit quicker (although, aware distances are that accurate on tri's etc). 16.51 split
On to the bike - quick through transition as no shoes to change. 4 laps of Eton Dorney and I had a target in my mind of around 40 mins so pleased to see final split of 34.50
Next the fun bit - run off the bike! Only tried it once in practise and took me a few mins to get over the wobbly legs. Hard work mind! Final 5k in 17.27.
Home in second place in 1.10.33. My target was sub 1.15 so really pleased. New found respect for triathletes. Winner ran 1.06.xx and is training for Ironman and has quite a few under his belt so beaten by a much better athlete
