Hi,
Just wondered if it was true that there is no lucozade stations at the edinburgh marathon? only water and gels? I have always trained with lucozade so am a bit worried that I will suffer without it...Also was hoping to get under 4 hours so was hoping for pacers to keep me on track...anyone know if there is gonna be any?
Thanks

Hi Hayley, Sorry it has taken so long for me to get back to you! I got my place with Spinal Research. I think alot of the charities don't let you know if you have a place until after the ballot results are in (October I think)- so they don't give away golden bond places to people that already have their own place in the race. I didn't decide to do the marathon until after the ballot had closed so I guess there was no hope of me getting a place that way! Good luck with getting one, I'm sure you will- I'm really excited about doing it and actually still cant believe it!

I think that seems the way to go with building up steadily and just getting the running into your routine and then starting the much longer runs in 16 week plans from January. I'm hoping thats the way to go anyway!!

Let me know if you get a place-good luck!
Hannah

Hi,
Thanks so much everyone for all the advice. So good to hear from people that have already been there and done that! Really excited about starting my training now.
Cheers!

Hope someone can help. I have just found out that I have a charity place for the london marathon in April 2010. Very exciting!! It will be my first marathon and the longest distance I will have run so far is a couple of 10K races this year. But in training for those races I didn't have a proper schedule and just got round after a few runs in the gym and using my basic fitness from netball and cycling. I really want to get running into my weekly schedule to build up my fitness so that when I come to start my 16 week marathon training in January (as all plans i have seen online are 16 weeks) I will be fitter and used to running 4+ times a week. But I have no idea how far or how many rimes a week I should be running now. Don't want to burn myself out before April but need to get used to running. Anyone have a pre- 16 week marathon training plan training plans?!!
Thanks for any help you can offer!
