Welcome Marcus. You have come to the right thread. The guys here know their stuff. For your long run tomorrow I would do 2m more than your usual long run and slowly build on this over the following weeks, and take a cut back week every 4th week. The trick with marathon training is finding out what works for you. I hope it all goes well for you.
Pinklady - good start to the half marathon training
Daren - very fast reps. It's good to see improvement from the last time you did that session.
Brolish - fast tempo session there. Good luck in the xc tomorrow.
I have my first cross country race of the season tomorrow. Need to get some longer spikes for my shoes with all the rain the past few days!
Good luck to everyone racing / running this weeeknd.
kfc - brilliant parkrun result. I hope the 10k went well.
Ant - good job on getting the club place at VLM.
AA - super progress. You are building up very well.
Iccle Jim - nice 16 there
Chickadee - it's great to see you running pain free. Very good weekly mileage.
Pinklady - good luck with the half marathon training plan
O4S - well done on the LIRF course.
Freemers - good long run at a quick pace.
My 10k race on Saturday went ok, not quite the time I was hoping for but not far off. The race was chipped timed so I didn't start particularly close to the front, but when I reached the stat line and hit start on my watch I noticed there was no timing mat. I got to half way in 19:56 by my watch but I knew I was already working way too hard. I stuggled for the next 1k when the course gets a bit hilly and there are a few twists and turns, but then seemed to get back on track for the last 3k. The time on my watch was 39:57 as I crossed the finish line and results show a gun time of 40:02. I was a little disappointed with the 2nd half of the race, and was maybe about 15s slower than I would have liked for the race. Plan now is to work on getting my 5k times down.
