Hi guys, I hope you both had a good Christmas and Santa visited. Sorry I haven't been around, my dad was admitted to hospital last Thursday and the outlook is not good. We've been mostly at the hospital, twice daily visiting which doesn't leave much time for anything else. I'll not be posting much for the forseeable future. My sister is here for a few days but I have to go back to work tomorrow, not good. |

I've been trying to sing 'Hark the Herald Angel' to 'Billy Jean' but nope, I would say it can't be done . I'm very intrigued by the game, sounds a bit like orienteering. I assume these are virtual bugs rather than actual creepy crawlies? I may have to check it out. Sorry, but I couldn't help but laugh at the thought of you running to try and catch up while they're all back in the pub . I eventually got out for a run on Saturday afternoon once the weather cleared up and again last night, just 3 miles, but at least I got out. Other than that I've only managed one days cycle commute, what with Christmas shopping to be done etc. This weather is driving me a little bit mad. |

Mmmm, a few days at a spa sounds lovely and I would imagine the food would be really healthy, hence no weight gain. It sounds like bliss, especially at the minute sitting in the office looking out at the falling snow which, despite my earlier confidence is beginning to lie. I hope your cold is feeling better by now. I have done next to nothing this week and it's driving me a little bit mad. I cycled to work on Monday and managed to get out for a 3 mile run last night but that's it . Hopefully I'll get out for a run over the weekend but other than that I'm planning a weekend of domesticity. I'm going to finish tidying 48jnr's room (the last of the loft stuff went back in the loft last night, pretty much the same as it came out ), decorate my christmas cake, finish wrapping the presents, make mince pies and sausage rolls, AND I've got a recipe for Limoncello I'm dying to try, it's basically a lemon syrup made from lemons (obviously) mixed with vodka, sounds like heaven . Ooh, and of course it's the Strictly final so I'll be settling down on Saturday night to watch that. Have a good one, whatever you do. |

I rode to work on Tuesday but since then, on account of the wind and rain, nothing! It was far too windy to cycle and too stormy to run . So when this morning dawned clear and calm I was out like a greyhound out of the traps even though it was only 2 degrees. I wore my lovely jacket again so was toasty and comfortable. I did 5.5 miles and got back just before it began to rain, so job done! Later I walked up to the post office to post some Christmas parcels and was a bit surprised to find my legs felt tired and a bit sore, I suppose that's with not being out all week. We're off out tonight with some friends then tomorrow if the weather is still ok (and I've managed to stick to my resolution not to drink too much) we're off out for a bike ride. It's forecast to get stormy again on Tuesday onwards Grrr Hope you're both ok |

I went out yesterday to try out my new gear, well you have to don't you and I'm very impressed with both. The tights are so much more comfortable than my other cheapie ones, they were twice the price but I don't feel like I'm wrestling to get them on. I've also discovered that perhaps my calves aren't like the hulks after all, perhaps it was the skimpy cut of the cheap tights. However having bought the new ones in order to have two pairs I know I won't want to wear my old ones anymore and will probably end up buring another new pair . But it's important to be confortable isn't it? My new jacket is brilliant, it's thicker on the front than the back and a bit thermal and wicking. So, I wasn't cold when I went out and although I was aware my back was wet as I was running I didn't get the boil in the bag sensation I get with my other jacket. Of course, it's not waterproof but tbh I'm not sure I need a waterproof jacket. If I'm out and it starts to rain the furthest I would be is a 20 min run from home. I've often passed runners togged up in jackets, leggings, hats and gloves and wondered why they don't look hot and sweaty but perhaps this is why They are wearing good stuff. I can see me wearing this until next spring. |
