whenever i feel slower than usual (usually when marathon training) i tend to put things like mile reps into my weekly training...not every week, just every other...it sure helps me.

hi john, the biggest advice i can give to you would be to join a club....i too was massively losing interest and motivation in running as a whole until i plucked up the courage to try out beginners night at my local club and i'd not looked back since...

i'd seen the club out running as a large group when i was out by myself and thought i'd give it a go...

Hi all

i have a training question and wondered what you thought......i have 3-4 weeks to go until i run the Brighton Marathon in the UK and i was wondering what you think the single biggest thing i can do help me hit my target time of 3.10 is in the last few weeks ?? what will give me the biggest gains ? i've done all the long runs, weekly speedwork and hills and i'm now just starting to taper....i have a habit of going off waaaay to quickly in races so maybe if i can just run smart i will run well ?

i have run 3.32 and 3.22 both last year and would really like to take a step closer to sub 3hrs this year with a 3.10.

any ideas or advice your can give me would be massively appreciated.

of course its meant to be hard work (if you're training for racing etc and want to improve) but i think you still have to enjoy it too...
