Hey Nicky Sensational news! Thank goodness I'm not the only one looking for news from familiar names & feeling really pleased for everyone when they achieve something! Good luck for the R4L in June! Sas
Hi Gillie P I have only been running for about 5 weeks & I get very discouraged (and not to mention FRUSTRATED!) when I've had what I consider a bad run but then I remind myself that less than two months ago I couldn't run a few yards, let alone for 5 minutes at a time! The food thing is really important - I tried the R4L course that I am doing last friday & did better than I expected. I then went back to try it on Sunday but without eating breakfast first - big mistake! I think if you stick to a run/walk schedule like MT has suggested, you will get round the R4L without any problems, then you'll be hooked & doing that 10km before you know it!
Happy Birthday! Guess what? My birthday too! Can't believe how things have changed - went for a run today, not something I would have even considered as a sort of treat in previous years! Although Evil Running Partner decided we should try the RFL course - only problem is that it involves the biggest hill in Edinburgh! I shall just say that it was a big test but strangely satisfying! The gadget sounds great - can't wait to hear how it went! Kit - hope you're feeling better soon!
Tortoise Glad to hear you're up & running again! I have only been running for a few weeks & still feel a bit self conscious & really, really slow but one of the things that has kept me going is reading all the posts here - everyone is so supportive & no one seems to care how fast or slow you run, it's the fact that you get out there & give it a go that matters. I agree with Michelle - running has been a fatastic way for me to escape & clear my head. Good luck with the new start all around & make sure you tell us how you're going!!
