I went to support my girl friends brother in a 3 marathons over 3 days event and then a few months later do a 50 mile ultra. I thought it was amazing that anyone could actually do things like that and it inspired me to get off my lazy backside and give it a go.
I started with an 8 week plan to get up to running for 30 minutes. After feeling really happy about completing that, I just carried on going.
I wouldn't agree with a Curfew for under 18's. I think the majority of under 18's are well behaved but they never appear in the press. It's the minority that give the majority a bad name.
I also think that if a curfew was introduced, there should be close to zero exceptions (possibly only one being that they are accompanied by the parent/guardian), otherwise it would end up turning into a farce.
IMO, there needs to be more enforcement of punishment. Kids think they can get away with anything and they need to be taught the consequences. I think punishments should be the humiliating kind as well so that kids don't act like - I'm cool and 'hard' cause I got this ASBO, <follow up with latest cool phrase - such as 'like' or 'you get me'> .
